Midyear Life Review and Why I Think Everyone Should Do It

Remember the list of goals you have made before (or maybe after) New Year? Your "New Year's Resolution"? Were you able to do those things you promised yourself you would do? Or is it already in your "forgotten folder"? Guilty, eh?
Last month I volunteered to take the beta-test in Life Audit and Goal Setting by Apple Nocom. I took it thinking that doing it will make me "know myself more" because I'm one of those people who thinks that the question "who are you?" is the hardest question eveeeeer. But little did I know, I'm in for something greater. So, yes, I worked on that for 3 days. That worksheet made me realize where my priorities lie these days, that I am not doing anything to reach my goals and dreams (like my big dreams, A.K.A. travel the world and buy/develop a resort) and, that if I really want to reach my goals/dreams, I should do a review on how am I doing or what am I doing in my life to reach those goals. I said to myself that I will do it once a year for a start and then maybe I would go quarterly in the next years to come. Hence, the reason why I wrote this.
While I was reading my new year's resolution, I cringed. Why? Because I am only doing 3 out of the 10 that was listed there! WHAT.A.SHAME! I started out just right, which is what most of us is doing, starting everything right hahahaha but eventually the fuss died and I ended up not motivated to do it anymore, thus my new year's resolution has been just another new year's resolution I have forgotten like all of those that I have set for myself years ago. But thankfully, because of the worksheet and Arriane Serafico's classes, I have learned that it is still not too late to start doing those new year's resolutions. After all, who said that we can only change the course of our lives every new year, right? That is why I am already trying to incorporate doing small things to reach my goals, like doing yoga (just this week) for my fitness routine in order to achieve that beach bod I have been dreaming on for years now, and enrolling myself in online courses and workshops to develop my skills.
Now, I understand why companies conduct business reviews every quarter. It is, therefore, done to check if the goals or budgets were met by the team or if they were able to deliver the numbers expected this time of the year. It is done to realign themselves to achieve the goals they set before the start of the business year. And, they are right on point on doing that... Which leads me to think that if businesses run by people are doing this, why can't we (owners, employees, students, etc) not do this to ourselves?
I think and I believe that we should also do a midyear or maybe a quarterly life review of our lives. If you are serious about chasing your dreams, then go.. Conduct a life review and realign your daily life into doing baby steps towards your dreams. If you are on the other end, well, I believe that you should also do it because it is awful to live your life in the future thinking of "what ifs" and "could have been"... If you think this is not necessary, why do you think businesses do it? Businesses are not the only ones who have goals and targets, we, as individuals do, too. I know that chasing dreams and goals is not easy, it is hard actually, we have to work extra hard and beat that little voice in our heads that says we can't do it. That is why, we should start small. By that I mean being clear on your priorities and conduct a life review. Stop making excuses to yourself, work your butt off. Remember that those successful people you idolize also worked hard to reach their dreams and that they are one of the few who does not let their dreams be just dreams, they turned it into reality. Turn yours, too!
And, if you ever decided on doing a midyear life review after reading this, YOU'RE WELCOME :) #IWriteToExpressNotToImpress
